What is a Pool Pillow?

I just got back from visiting my brother’s family down in Georgia, and notices a lot of pool’s closed and many of them had a pool pillow and many did not. And I bet many people don’t know what all of the important points on why a pool pillow is needed.

Water accumulation on top your you above ground pool can add stress to your cover of course, along with undue added pressure on the sides of your walls. Many people don’t realize that more of the damage can happen there. My brother who has an above ground pool and uses a pool pillow didn’t even know that fact. He just thought that it was only to keep the water off so he didn’t have to remove it himself over the winter.

A lot of people just use car inter tubes instead, and that is not the wisest choice. Using a tube can cause you to stretch your pool cover to tightly which you do not want to do. The best choice is to keep the cover slightly loose so not to put undo pressure on it causing premature wear. I have seen many a times when even a pool pillow was installed and the cover was installed as tight as a drum.

A tip when installing your pool pillow before putting your cover on, is to make sure you center the pillow and tie it in place by string at each corner of the pillow and to the top edge of the pool. This will insure that it will not move around causing an uneven drape of the cover. I’m sure most pool owners do this, but I have even seen a few pool that haven’t done this.

Another great tip for those pool owners who live in windy areas is to use a winter cover seal. It is similar to plastic wrap but is of much heavier gauge. It really secures the perimeter of the pool cover to the pool and prevents no wind from whipping up under your cover. These work great and I highly recommend them if you have had problems in the past from your pool cover getting blown off.

A pool pillow is a important component of properly closing your above ground pool. I you are using a inter tube, or some type of blow up device, I recommend switching.

Spas or as some people call them hot tubs, are very popular these days. There are so may styles and type of spas, where do you begin… Its like going down the cereal isle at your grocery store. Accessorize Your Hot Tub With Spa Supplies

We purchase a spa 2 years ago. It has been one of the most enjoyable things we have gotten for some rest and relaxation in a long time. I enjoy the rush of the water through the spa jets and it helps my aches and pains of being a automobile mechanic the first 20 years of my professional career. And since then we have also purchased spa supplies to accessorize our hot tub.

What do I mean accessorize? Well there are tons of items available out there to make your spa more comfortable and enjoyable. We have a detached spa from our inground pool. The seats are not molded like a portable spa would. So basically your are sitting on concrete. What we have purchased to make our seating more comfortable are inflatable spa cushions. Along with those we got spa pillows. These is one of the spa supplies I enjoy the most and the pillows cushion your head in case you want to lean back. Let me tell you, if it wasn’t for the hot temperatures we run our spa at, I would be in there much longer.

What we have also added that is real cool is a spa bar. It has a table and three stools. The table butts up right against the outer wall of the spa, and is great for when you entertain. Your guests can sit up right beside the people in the spa. It is a very cool item. We also keep our cold drinks on top of the table when we are in enjoying the spa. Drinks are served….lol

The latest addition to our spa supplies arena is spa steps. This makes it great for smaller kids, or people that have a difficult time stepping to get in and out. Ours are made of molded plastic and the steps are textured to make them non-slippery. I’m more the kind of person that just jumps in like the Dukes of Hazzard boys did in the television show from back in the 70′s when they jumped in and out of shier car. Boy I just dated myself.. My wife really enjoys them as it helps here greatly getting in and out.

Oh I forgot one other thing that is a great addition to our spa supplies. Its a battery operated spa vacuum. This makes it so easy to spot clean the spa. We have a pressure side automatic cleaner for the pool, and also a manual vacuum and hose that you hook up to the telescopic pole. You can’t use the automatic pool cleaner for the spa, and the manual vacuum you can use, but it is very cumbersome. The battery powered pool cleaner makes it real easy to just do a quick clean when needed, and since it is self-contained cleaning up is quick. I love this accessory too.

There are many more spa supplies available, but these are items we have, and they make our spa experiences much more enjoyable. If you have a spa, I encourage you to look into these kinds of items and enjoy your spa like we do.
