A South African Invention, Automatic Pool Cleaners Do the Work While You Enjoy
If you are tired of straining your back while trying to clean your pool instead of bathing in it, then you are in need of automatic pool cleaners. Getting such cleaners take the fuss out of cleaning your pool by hand every week.
Automatic pool cleaners were first used in South Africa. A hydraulic engineer there was able to realize the benefit of an automatic pool, and exploited the market for such appliances that could remove the fuss it takes to clean personal and commercial pools. He actually wanted to create a pool cleaner that would keep the pool dirt free round the year. The first batch of automatic pool cleaners were released commercially in the nineteen seventies. The cleaners then were called “Kreepy Krauly”, a brand used till now.

Dolphin pool cleaners can be classified in 3 basic groups; basic, wall climbers, and top of the line models.
Your basic models include the Dolphin Moby and Swash. These models clean the floor and cove and do not clean walls. What Type of Automatic Pool Cleaner is Right For You?
Pool cleaning can be a laborious task. When I lived with my parents long ago (well not too long ago), I remember my father taking care of our pool. He would clean it by hand once a week with a hand held pool vacuum cleaner. It would take him about 2 ½ hours to finish. I think he liked doing it, but I never could tell. For me personally, I would rather use an Automatic Pool Cleaner.
There are 3 basic types of Automatic Pool Cleaner. Pressure side pool cleaners, suction side pool cleaners and robotic pool cleaners. All can be good choices, each one has it’s pro’s and cons.

Staying afloat by doing your own pool cleaning
By Conor L. Sanchez
August 16, 2008 in print edition C-1 (Los Angeles Times)
Victor Pineda has found a pile of money in a hole in his Whittier backyard.
Pineda fired his pool maintenance serviceman after the price rose to $72 from $65 a month, which didn’t include filter cleaning or pump maintenance. That works out to nearly $900 in savings a year. Now he purchases chemicals every nine months to sustain appropriate levels of chlorine and pH.
