First question one would as is how much room do you have to devote to a sauna room?  Our 2-person saunas take up about a 4′ by 4′ space. They can be plugged into a regular outlet, and heat up rather quickly and efficiently. How many people will be using the sauna at once. Ultimately how much available space you have in the room you want to place your sauna in will determine what size you get.

If inside space is at a premium for devoting space for a sauna room, consider a portable sauna. They are the size of an overstuffed chair and fold neatly into a large flat suitcase. Then when not in use, you can store them in a closet or underneath your bed. These are excellent for people living in studio or small apartments. I have seen these in action, and they work very nicely. The ONLY downside is that they do not look as nice as a hemlock or cedar sauna.

Another consideration for placement of a sauna room is outside. We also sell outdoor sauna kits, and these are just as nice as the inside units. They are assembled in a few hours and are completely water tight. The outdoor saunas that I favor are the ones that have exterior finishes made out of bamboo. Besides looking really nice, the outside finishes are extremely rugged to all the outdoors can throw at them. They are so great looking that once they are assembled and put together, they look like a custom piece.

Do not let space requirements determine if you want a sauna room somewhere inside or out. There are enough styles of saunas that what ever your requirements may be, they can be met, and you can enjoy and have a nice relaxing time in your own sauna.
