Its almost that time of year where we all close up outside and put away all of our outdoor furniture and accessories. Most people though, as I keep my outdoor stuff out until the middle of winter. Call me weird… But what I would like to talk about today is patio covers, specifically patio heater covers.

Many people do not even bother with covering up their outdoor furniture. Lots of times they will just stack all the pieces up outside at one corner of the patio, or will cover each individually. When I finally get around to closing everything up, I take all my outdoor furniture and store it in the shed. but I leave the heaters out and cover them up with patio heater covers. Call me weird again.

Patio heater covers come in different types of material. Your less expensive covers will be made out of polyethylene and/or synthetic fibers. Many of the newer covers are covered latex and plastic to give them extra strength. The older style of covers were made out of canvas. You can still find the covers that are made out of canvas, but they are few and far between. Actually some of the more expensive covers are made out of canvas or a similar natural fiber water resistant material.

While we are mostly talking about patio heater covers, there are many other uses and a huge amount of different sizes. They range in size from hauling items in your pick-up truck to covers that can cover a large part of a baseball field. They can be used as an extra layer of protection around the top of your camping tent to keep the rain out, to underneath on the ground to keep you drier inside. We actually use a 4′ x 8′ cover to rake leaves on it and drag them into the woods. As you can imagine the uses can be endless.

Patio heater covers are only a small portion of the different variety of covers you can have and use. I am sure you can think of many more uses that just the few I have mentioned here.

A fire pit is another way to enjoy your outdoor leisure time on the cooler days of fall. They are great because they are portable, less expensive than gas or electric fireplaces or heaters, and you get the added benefit of the smell a wood fireplace.. We have a built-in gas fireplace outside our house, and also have a fire pit table on the patio.. I really like the convenience of the gas, but once and awhile I LOVE the smell of the burning wood.

These days a fire pit like any other piece of fine furniture you would place on your patio or outdoor room. They come in tons of styles and configurations and are priced right for anyone’s budget. I have a copper cocktail fire pit on a decorative stand.. It has a circular screen over the top that can be opened up. I like the types with the screens, just in case you get some wood that is a little too green, and you get a lot of hisses and pops from that particular batch.

In an article from Chicken Coop Hq, there take on a fire pit is,

“Today, fire pits are regarded as furniture that are purchasable in so many configurations, patterns, and modes. Although people nonetheless sit close to them with the story telling and roasting of marshmallows and hot dogs, the fire pit today is a more controlled . They are no longer attained up of a dug hole, but or else, they are broadly prepared up of a metal pit with a wooden table in the middle, sitting off the ground. Living in the city entails that there are not numerous larger open spaces wherein pits can be dug. Even the yards have limited space. The accessible fire pits now are easily managed where it can be simply tuck away after an evening of barbecue.”

Look into a fire pit for yourself today.. I will be using ours A LOT this year as. The regular swim season hasn’t been as good as recent years because of the cooler weather and the extra rain we got early on in the season. I will be looking at every opportunity to extend our outdoor living this year…
