If you want to make your pool free from any kind of impurity then cleaning it with the proper pool filter would be highly recommended. If you are already a pool owner or planning to have one in your backyard then you need to be safe from any kind of impurity.

There are different kinds of pool filters available in the market. But choosing the correct one for your pool would be a big task. Basic three types of pool filters are available: sand filters, pool filter cartridges, and DE filters. You need to decide which kind of filter you require for your pool cleaning.

Pool cartridge filters are found to be one of the simplest options among all. These filters are said to be the most trouble-free option. Filter media would be the different folds of papers. Updated features of the model are made up from square footage of paper which is different from the obsolete version. This kind of feature makes Pool cartridge filters more efficient and it demands less maintenance. In case of these filters, pool owners usually install it at the beginning of the season. And then it has to be hosed again few more times in a year, just to keep it working properly. These pool filters are found to be much known to pool owners. Thus, many pocket-cracking deals can be seen online for these kinds of pool filters.

          ]]>

Among the other brand names in the pool filtration industry, Jandy is known to be one of the most renowned brands. Andrew Pansini, actual inventor of automatic swimming pool cleaner, invented Jandy Pool Filters during 1950′s. This company started bringing in heat pumps, automatic filters, heaters, controls, and pumps in the market. This company came up with the modern technologies in the market of swimming pool accessories.

This company has reached its utmost podium of success by supplying Jandy Pool Filters and Pool Pumps all over the world. Many new technologies has been patented by this company in the field of pool cleaning processes, but Jandy pool pump is the major consideration of this company.

There are many good features available in these filters which can be considered as the unique selling points of this particular product. You will find many places online and offline where Jandy pool accessories are sold. But you should be aware of the quality and authenticity of the product. Otherwise, many fraud stores are selling these products with duplicate devices.

Question by craz4ourgod: does any one know of a way to recycle/restore/clean swim pool paper filters?
I have a 13′ round pool 42″ deep, it uses paper filters, they say they should last 10 day, but the best we seem to get is 4, so I am looking for a way to clean/restore/ recycle them, any one?
when the cost of them are 2 for 10$ its just too expensive… any ideas would be great, thanx in advance…

Best answer:

Answer by HOOK
Maybe this link will help,

http://www.wikihow.com/Clean-a-Cartridge-Type-Swimming-Pool-Filter

Answer by Jonathan
I would suggest buying filters made from polyester fibers like these: http://www.swimming-pool-information.com/cartridge-swimming-pool-filters.html

Answer by mike p
The problem with cleaning paper filters is any kind of detergent you use will mess us the porosity of the filter element. You may clean it, but water will not flow through it nearly as well.
One solution is to find out where the dirt and other material that the filters are catching, and try to keep them from entering the pool. One major problem I have is kids running in and out of the pool, getting their feet dirty and bringing that dirt into pool. I got one of those cheap plastic pools at wall-mart, keep it half filled, make them clean their feet off first.

Today so many people in the world are using water. But no one think to save water. This is our tragedy. World is thirsty of drinking water. Millions of people use water in order to drink, bathe, and cook, using water from public water systems. The basic idea is to pump water in a continual cycle, from the pool through the filtering and chemical treatment systems and back to the pool again. In this way, the pumping system keeps the water in the pool relatively free of dirt, debris and bacteria. Some pools also include heaters in the mix, in order to keep the water at a certain temperature. We want to avoid chemicals water in swimming pool. So save water and energy by use our Swimming Pool Supplies & Accessories. On a hot summer day, a swimming pool can seem like the greatest invention known to man. And as it turns out, there really is a lot of cool technology at work in your average pool. Swimming pools come in all shapes and sizes, but nearly all of them, from the backyard personal pool to the water park wave pool, work in the same basic way.

They use a combination of filtration and chemical treatment to continually clean a large volume of water. Some Swimming pools are made from fiberglass unbreakable plastic, which has been molded into a basin shape. Swimming Pool Supplies, a construction crew digs an appropriately sized hole, lays the necessary plumbing, adds some sand filler and lowers the preformed pool structure into the hole. Then they level the pool; hook up all the plumbing and backfill in the area around the pool. Swimming Pool Supply costs depending on the size of pool you want installed, the material used, the complexity of design, the area you live in, and whether or not it is an aboveground pool or an in ground swimming pool. The following cost estimates are only that, estimates, so make sure you talk to contractors in your area for more information. Also, local friends and relatives who have had a pool installed may be good resources, both for getting accurate cost estimates and for finding a good contractor. Swimming pools offer the greatest variety in swimming pool design basically, whereas aboveground swimming pools are the most especially.

Article by Rob Traugott

Keeping your swimming pool filters properly serviced is the key to having clean, healthy, sparkling water in your pool or spa. The best way to determine that your swimming pool filter needs service is to watch the pressure. When the pressure rises 8 to 10 psi above the baseline it is time for pool maintenance. Cloudy water is another sure sign that your swimming pool filter needs maintenance.

Safety should always be the first consideration when replacing or cleaning your swimming pool filter, especially those filters that are fitted with pressure-clamps. These pressure-clamps can “blow” under certain circumstances, causing property damage, severe injuries and in the worst cases, death.

Always consult the manufacturer’s guidelines before performing maintenance on your swimming pool filter.

The first thing to do when replacing or performing maintenance on your swimming pool filter is to turn off the electricity to the swimming pool and pump; after the pump has been turned off, open the pressure release valve and when there hissing sound stops you are ready to proceed.

There are three types of swimming pool filters: sand, DE (diatomaceous earth), and cartridge and they can be either pressure or vacuum pool filters. Depending upon the type of swimming pool filter you have, there are several ways to perform the required pool maintenance.

First check to see what brand of swimming pool filter you have. Some of the more popular brands are Sherlok, Pentair, Jacuzzi, Super-flo, Jandy and Sta-Rite. It is always wise to spend the few extra dollars and buy the brand-name swimming pool filter that matches your pump. This ensures that your warranty will not be compromised should you run into trouble with the replacement filter while performing normal pool maintenance.

Sand filter: with proper pool maintenance a sand filter can give you years of trouble-free service. Backwashing is the correct method for cleaning a sand swimming pool filter. This is done by reversing the water flow through the filter and redirecting the waste water to the sewer or waste water line. Most manufacturers recommend a 2-3 minute backwash. It is important not to restart the pump right away as the sand needs time to settle. Check you manufacturer’s instruction manual for the step-by-step procedure before beginning maintenance on your sand swimming pool filter.

Article by Ron Burr

Diatomaceous Earth filters also know as DE filters are a common type of filter which uses a very fine powder called DE to coat internal grids or plates to help capture dirt and debris as they pass through a filter tank or vessel.

DE filter are available in many sizes usually noted in square footage. The most common sizes are 24, 36, 48, 60 and 72 square feet of surface. Most filters are rated at 2 gallons per minute of flow per square foot of surface area. An example would be a 36 square foot filter would be capable of up to 72 gallons per minute of flow. This is important so as not to attempt to use to large of a pump which could cause internal damage to the filter grids and the filter tank itself. DE filters have been manufactured in many different materials plastic, fiberglass and stainless steel.

Most DE filters required a type of control valve, usually a valve known as a Multi Port Valve or a Slide Valve. Both types of valves allow the water inside the tank to be reversed as needed to “backwash” the grids when required. Multi port valves offer more options, such as rinse, bypass, waste, closed and recirculated modes where as slide valves usually only have filter and backwash modes available.

How does backwashing work? Backwashing allows the reversal of the water inside the tank to flush out captured dirt and debris. The “spent” DE is flushed outside the tank and caught in either a separation tank bag or another method for disposal. Once the backwashing has occurred the filter will need to be re-energized with fresh DE powder. The valve position is moved back to the standard filter mode and pool water is moved through the filter in the normal operating flow pattern. The skimmer valve of the pool is opened and fresh DE powder is added to the filter through the skimmer allowing the pump to pull the powered back into the tank and allowing the grids or plates to be recoated.

At some point in time will the filter need to be taken apart and cleaned? Yes, the method of backwashing the filter to remove debris will only be effective a certain number of times. Shorter and shorter filter runs will be noted and this will signal that the filter will need to be taken apart and completely serviced. Servicing a DE filter will require removal of the internal grids or plates, cleaning of their surfaces, flushing out of the tank, reassembly, and addition of fresh filter powder directly inside the filter. Remember to lubricate o-rings before reassembly to allow for water tight seals.

How much DE will need to be added to a filter? Filters which are produced in various square footage sizes and will require a certain number of pounds of DE per square foot of filter area. Consult your filter owner’s manual for manufactures recommendations.

Please keep in mind, use caution when working with Diatomaceous Earth, eye and nose protection along with gloves should be used when ever working with or handling DE.

DE filters are an excellent method of filtration and when these filters are maintained and serviced on a regular basis crystal clear swimming pool water can be expected.

Question by Clay W: Are cartridge filters for pools difficult to clean?

Best answer:

Answer by Tim K
no not at all. They actually sell a chemical you should use. You just take the filter out and pour the chemical in. Let if soak for the recomended time and then drain the water and chemical out. I don’t know if they are all the same but that is what we have to do with my friends filter.

Answer by Spock
Replace them —– do not clean them.

Answer by edjumacation
I assume you are talking about the large filter cartridges. (about 3 foot) I used to have a solution of water and hydrochloric acid. Use a garbage can with a lid. 1 gallon to about 20 gallons of water. Spray the filters off, then soak the filters for about 8 hours. Then spray them off again over a sanitary drain. Have another can set up filled with a baking soda and water solution. (About 2 lbs) Use that as a final dip to make sure that the filters are clear of any acid. Spray then off again.
Use rubber gloves when handleing the acid. The soda mixture is the nutralizer, so if you splash you can rinse in that.

Answer by lestermount
Depending on the type and size of filter, you can get a solution, replace them, or put them in your dishwasher.

Answer by cowboydoc
The type we had, would fit into a five gallon bucket, I watched the pool guy wash them several times by putting bleach into the bucket and water, then soaking the filters for several hours, while cleaning the pool. Then he’d rinse them and reinstall them.
I then started doing this myself and saved the money.

Question by craz4ourgod: does any 1 know of a way to recycle/restore/clean swim pool paper filters?
I have a 13′ round pool 42″ deep, it uses paper filters, they say they really should last 10 day, but the finest we seem to get is 4, so I am searching for a way to clean/restore/ recycle them, any 1?
when the price of them are 2 for 10$ its just too high-priced… any ideas would be great, thanx in advance…

Very best answer:

Answer by HOOK
Possibly this link will assist,

http://www.wikihow.com/Clean-a-Cartridge-Sort-Swimming-Pool-Filter

Answer by Jonathan
I would suggest purchasing filters created from polyester fibers like these: http://www.swimming-pool-data.com/cartridge-swimming-pool-filters.html

Answer by mike p
The issue with cleaning paper filters is any type of detergent you use will mess us the porosity of the filter element. You may possibly clean it, but water will not flow by means of it nearly as well.
1 solution is to find out where the dirt and other material that the filters are catching, and attempt to maintain them from entering the pool. One significant problem I have is kids running in and out of the pool, finding their feet dirty and bringing that dirt into pool. I got 1 of those inexpensive plastic pools at wall-mart, keep it half filled, make them clean their feet off initial.
