I totally agree. While chlorine is used as a sanitizer and is relatively inexpensive, it’s still a chemical and should be handled and used with caution.

As with any chemical, too much can cause problems.

They YMCA pool that I operate keeps the chlorine at around 3.5. That seems to do the trick in terms of sanitation and bather comfort.

One thing about these chlorinators. If you ever need to shock the pool be sure to turn the cell off because it may get damaged as the high level of chlorine is going through the cell.

We have a salt pool at the Y and I turn off our cell. The other pool operator didn’t do this and a $3000 mistake was had.

  • Pool Slides – Did anyone get to enjoy there’s?
Yes, slides are great fun. My kids love going to the water-water during the Summer and getting them off the slide(after the 100th time) is still a chore. But boy do they sleep well that night.

  • Let’s Talk About Pool Installation Costs
Please be careful when purchasing and/or financing a pool. I’ve known too many people that allow the emotion of buying a pool to over-ride their brains.

Remember to check your budget and be sure you can make the payments.

  • How to Clean Pool Filter Cartridges
Two things about using muriatic acid: Gloves and goggles. If you happen to splash acid on your skin it will eat through about 3 layers of skin before you can wash it off, so safety first.
