I totally agree. While chlorine is used as a sanitizer and is relatively inexpensive, it’s still a chemical and should be handled and used with caution.
As with any chemical, too much can cause problems.
They YMCA pool that I operate keeps the chlorine at around 3.5. That seems to do the trick in terms of sanitation and bather comfort.
